Nurse Manager: Case Management and Clinical Documentation Integrity
Cleopatra Hyman MSN, BSN, RN, works as the Nurse Manager in Case Management and Clinical Documentation Integrity at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C. She has 12 years of nursing experience, working in different areas such as NICU stepdown, Orthopedic, General Pediatrics and home care. She is also currently a BSN pediatric clinical Instructor at the University Of Maryland School of nursing, and previously for George Washington University School of Nursing. Cleo strives to help other nurses look at nursing long term and has mentored most of her nursing students when it was time to choose a specialty for their final practicum and/or their first application as a new graduate RN.
Cleo would like to continue mentoring and has decided to dedicate time to nurse professional development by working with the career development mentorship program at Children’s National Hospital. Cleo believes that mentorship is key to building strong nurse leaders as well as building partnerships with the interdisciplinary areas within Children’s National. In her spare time Cleo likes to spend time with her husband and 2 kids, travelling and cooking any sort of Nigerian cuisine. One of Cleo’s favorite quotes from Maya Angelou is “I’ve learned that you shouldn’t go through life with a catcher’s mitt on both hands; you need to be able to throw something back”.
