Morgan Lee BSN, RN, RNC-NIC, CPN
NICU RN II
My name is Morgan Lee and I have been a NICU nurse for 8 years. I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing and started my career at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC IN 2012. I worked in Pittsburgh for 2.5 years before moving to the DMV area. I started working at CNMC in the NICU in 2014. Becoming a member of the Bear family has helped me grow as a nurse and person. Over my 6 years at CNMC, I have had the opportunity to experience multiple roles including charge nurse, preceptor and practice council member.
The charge nurse role has helped me cultivate my leadership skills. I truly enjoy helping others especially in our busy ICU. Serving as a preceptor is another role that has helped me with leadership. It has also given me some experience with mentoring new staff. Most of the staff starting in the NICU are new graduates and they require a lot of support as they embark on their new career. I take pride in providing guidance to the new staff nurses. Practice council has allowed me to interact with nurses from all over the hospital and given me the chance to learn and work on evidenced based practice NPG’s. These NPG’s are important because they enhance my ability as a preceptor.
My experience at CNMC has led me to pursuing my doctoral degree. Currently, I am enrolled at the University of Maryland School of Nursing to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. Working at CNMC has built my confidence in many areas and because of this I would like to give back to nursing and the hospital through mentorship. This is crucial to me because providing resources to new staff or potential staff tremendously increases the nursing profession. I look forward to expanding my mentorship knowledge through this program.
