Sex Differences in Statural Growth Impairment in Pediatric Crohn’s Disease: Part 2 (Growth Study Part 2) is a prospective multicenter longitudinal cohort study of pediatric patients with Crohn’s disease designed to:

  • Delineate sex differences in specific inflammatory protein profiles and the impact on hormones and sex-specific growth impairment.

  • Compare polygenic risk score (PRS) predicted height Z scores with actual height BA-Z scores by sex in Crohn’s disease and to identify the sex-specific serum inflammatory protein profiles of the most discordant patients.

  • Develop a predictive model for each sex to identify patients at highest risk for growth-impairment refractory to standard Crohn’s disease therapies based on a profile of serum biomarkers, PRSs and clinical variables.

We will utilize the essential data generated in this proposal to develop a sex-specific risk-based treatment approach for pediatric Crohn’s disease.
